for the uninitiated*

Anne Weaver (played by Christine Adams on Agents of SHIELD) is an agent of SHIELD and the former head of the science side of SHIELD Academy, where she served as a professor and mentor to young, aspiring agents, including Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz. After the initial fall of SHIELD to Hydra, Anne went into hiding and eventually became part of Robert Gonzales' "real SHIELD" with agents such as Isabelle Hartley, Bobbi Morse, and Alphonso Mackenzie. After the real SHIELD's attempted takeover of established SHIELD, the two units coalesced and communicated, and Anne is once again an established agent of SHIELD. Since canon hasn't mentioned her in awhile, it's safe to presume (in the writer's opinion) that she's off either working missions in the world or more likely reforming the Academy. She seems to have some sort of history with fellow agent Melinda May, as well as being familiar (explicitly or implicitly) with all other current and recently-past agents.
